Twitter Mistakes Growth

These 3 Twitter Mistakes Can Make Your Growth Stagnant

Twitter mistakes

In many countries, Twitter is more popular than Facebook or any other social media platform. And there are many Twitter mistakes which are committed by many.

In the past few years, I have realized that even though people keep using Twitter still don’t get the exposure they expect.

It’s because of their way of handling the account. Every now and then, people keep asking me as if what’s the best way to use Twitter and how can they scale.

I gained 20000 Twitter followers just in a few months.

My fellow bloggers keep asking me the magic trick I used. Well, today, you’re going to learn about the Twitter mistakes you shouldn’t make.

What’s Stopping You from Getting Thousands of Followers

No doubt that it’s really easy to gain tons of followers on this platform. But it can happen only if you follow the Twitter rules and avoid mistakes.

There are two things which can change your current stage being a Twitter user.

#1. Not Thanking Who Retweet

Twitter is all about tweets and retweets. People expect you to thank them when they spread the words about your content.

After having thousands of followers, most of the people avoid thanking others. It may seem cliche for many.

Well, such kind gesture can change everything. Let me ask you something, don’t you feel good when someone appreciates your efforts?

Think about other’s feelings. It’s all connected to the generosity. Just make it a habit.

#2. You Don’t Follow Back

I have always added this point because people have a misconception about following others. First of all, you should understand that you’re not a celebrity.

You’re just a person who is trying to build his/her social media brand. And if you need to be supported, you should return the favor.

At many events, people ask as if why do you follow back so many people. I always ask them a question in the return.

Why do you follow anyone? Don’t you expect to get a follow back? That’s the main point to be focused on.

If you want to gain Twitter followers, you should follow people.

#3. You Don’t Share Other’s Content

There are many profiles which are filled with the URLs of the same kind. Whether it’s from the same website or a person having multiple websites.

Diversity is required everywhere. You can’t expect your followers to read the same kind of content.

Open up and support others by sharing their articles. It’s not just on Twitter, but every social media platform. Everyone has a soft corner for someone with whom they get supported.

You may also think to help the people who always share your posts on Twitter.

Helping others directly boost your Twitter brand. Building a personal brand requires reciprocity.

Are You Making Any of the Twitter Mistakes

At some point, every person makes such mistakes. I did a long back when I had only 2000 followers. Once you learn about any social media platform, you cope up pretty well.

You would be amazed to see that most of the social media consultant, gurus, experts are following these rules and have built their brand.

People always learn with the time and it’s better to start practicing such things from now. Making such Twitter mistakes can totally ruin everything.

You will grow but not at the rate you expect. I hope this can work for you. If you still have any doubt. always feel free to ask.

  1. Hello

    Ravi,

Twitter is best for promoting our brand but firstly we should have good number of followers in twitter. Great to know that you have made 20k followers in few months. After reading this post I have learned manything about twitter like retweet and sharing others article.

Totally agree that If we want to gain twitter followers then we should follow people.

  2. Hi Ravi, great tips! I do not follow everyone back though, if they don’t use a full profile or an image in their profile I don’t follow back. There are others who claim gain followers by paying for them – I don’t follow those either.

Another thing I find selfish on Twitter is when people only RT you for their posts that you have tweeted out. I find that annoying.

I re-tweet something I find of value and never (I don’t think) RT someone’s tweet of one of my posts etc. unless it’s a guest post on someone else’s blog.

I also would add engagement is key to growing your twitter account. Just tweeting links does not work well on Twitter.

Thanks Ravi and have a wonderful day and weekend.

  3. Hi Ravi,

I used to make all the above mistakes when it came to Twitter. I didn’t share on that platform at all. But lately I have been sharing every post I read. However, I do need more discipline when it comes to Twitter. I’m a bit back logged at this time. I don’t like to use bots, instead I like to take each person and thank them.

    Thanks for the reminder.

  4. Hey Ravi

This post is as precious as hidden treasure.

Generating traffic, sales, leads, and revenue depends partly (not fully) on the amount of followers we have.

One thing is to get followers and another is to keep them.

You find out that you are unfollowed by most people on daily basis and the sole reason for this is that your followers want you to follow them back.

Even if you dont follow back, a “thank you” tweet will calm their spirit and you still keep them as your followers.

Another method that work for me is that I take the initiative to follow others. They’ll likely return the favour and that means more followers.

Twitter Analytics should always be used to know which strategy gets you the most impression and engagement so as to continue using them.

Thanks so much for sharing this list.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  6. Hi Ravi,

Like Lisa, I don’t follow everyone back either. I’ll take a look at their profile and if I feel like it’s a legit account, I may follow them back. I don’t think that it’s necessary to follow everyone back.

I always make it a point to thank everyone when they share my content. After all, they didn’t have to take the time to do it. Plus I truly appreciate it whenever someone does take the time share my content.

Another thing I do is I will share 98% of the content that I read and comment on. I’m not sure if this is the right mentality, but I figure if I took the time to read it and comment on it, then it’s worthy of a share.

I’ve read a couple blogs where I’ve commented on but didn’t take the time to share it. So it really just depends.

Thanks for sharing these tips, I have no doubt they will help people avoid making mistakes on Twitter.

    Have a great day ?

    Susan
